now, for a little while

An update on the Mission trip to Guatemala.  I continue to seek sponsors. I get my last shot in May. I am about to purchase airline tickets to meet up with the team from PA in Guatemala.  the goal is to arrive about the same time to save extra trips to the airport.  The Lord continues to deal with me, teach me, humble me, and reveal Himself to me.  PRAISE GOD.  We have such an AWESOME GOD. and yet, we can not comprehend just how truely AWESOME He is!!!
Thank you for your continued support in prayer for me, and in the preparation of this Mission trip.

Do you ever wonder at the challenges you face daily, weekly, yearly?  Challenges within your family, challenges at work?   This seems to be my area of receiving lessons lately.  Personal CHALLENGES!

James 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials,

1 Peter 1:6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials,

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

I am THANKFUL to my Lord for His encouraging Word.  He lets me know, it's NOT about me at all.  (WHAT??? haha) It is about learning WHO He is, about HIS Character, getting to know HIM.  I can trust Him, so can you.
We must die to ourselves. We hear that we must die to live. This is a very true statement.

"Are you loyal to Jesus or loyal to your notion of Him? Are you loyal to what He says, or are you trying to compromise with conceptions which never came from Him? Whatsoever He saith unto you, do it"  by Oswald Chambers (March 28- My Utmost for His Highest)

There is a much bigger picture than my individual life.  I pray and ask Him, to lead me, teach me the way in which to walk. That I would die daily to myself, to the lusts and desires of this world. That my heart would serve Him and only Him. (to know Him I must read His word daily)
So, when I go through a tough time, or someone is less than friendly, or says something hurtful, 'what does it matter??'  It does not. What does matter, is HOW I RESPOND.  Do I respond out of my flesh? out of my pride? Or do I love my enemy? Jesus was God in the flesh, able to destroy, yet He was humble, using the Word of God to rebuke. Not slander.
It is vital to read your Bible, feed on His word, digest it, make it a part of who you are IN HIM. Understand, He is not part of YOU, but rather the other way around, you are saved IN HIM.

Remember, our Lord Jesus grieved, He cried, He felt pain, He bled, He knows the troubles of your heart. Hear what He has to say to you, READ the Bible and hear Him.

Eph. 5:20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

2 Peter 1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,

~AMEN~

In His grace;

dear brothers and sisters in Christ;

The Lord has been so good to me. Providing sponsorships for the missions trip to Guatemala in Aug. The Lord told me about 3 months ago; 'you do not know the plans I have for you'....... wow.....

He continues to SHOW ME that He is the ONE.... the one who makes provision for ALL things concerning me.  He is so incredibly good to me, even in my discipline.. Yes, I get disciplined, not always pleasant, but for my good.  He also reveals myself, to ME.  (yuck)  I can not hide from me or Him. Now I know that I can indeed trust Him, it becomes easier and easier to be honest with myself and Him.  He sees the me, when I am alone. That is the me that He is teaching, so that when I am with others, I look more and more like Him and less and less like 'me'.

Mark 16:15  And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.

(the following is COPIED FROM ORI WEBPAGE)
I will be going to Guatemala under the umbrella of Orphans Resources International.
This is the Purpose and Mission statement by Orphans Resources International
http://www.orphanresources.org/index.html

James 1:27
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress...
To provide aid to orphanages in Guatemala, with the vision to expand to other Latin American countries. By supplying physical necessities and volunteers, to help with the care of the orphans, involving work teams to improve the facilities so that the lives of the orphans can be improved for as long as they stay. And help reduce the burden on the directors by supplying the needs of the orphanage.

To break the cycle of poverty, abandonment and despair, by providing spiritual, vocational and personal development training so that the children may learn and fulfill the purpose that God has for their lives.
How Do We Do This:
One of the ways we show them our love is by improving their living conditions at the orphanages. We take food, clothes, toys, and work crews into the orphanages to do construction and remodeling projects and also make sure we have time to give plenty of love. We also wish to make people aware that the greatest need these children have is a place to call home and the love of a family. Currently our organization is only working in Guatemala, but the needs of just this one country are staggering. The number of orphans grows daily. Please pray for these children and our organization as we try to reach out to their needs.

And this is the reason I am led 'to go'.... to serve the children that are abandoned and left to their own resources for survival in this world.
For those of you that do not know; I work in a skilled nursing facility.  Daily I am blessed by the widows and elderly I serve.  I do activities with the residents. Many are so thankful for as little as 5 minutes of my time.  (very humbling) These people have lived lives that are amazing, and yet they are now alone. Many are left for others to care for, no visits from children, family or friends. Some have outlived others in their lives.  Again, to spend time reading with a person for 15 or 20 minutes is so little to give, yet means so much to them.

I think of the children,  here in the USA, we have many with no  homes. But there are resourses here and I pray are available to help them. There are many children in other countries and their stories break my heart as well.  Just think how our Lords heart breaks as we, His body, do not take care of the widows and orphans as we should.
In many ways, the fields of harvest are ripe. by showing love and compassion in His name, many will be won for the kingdom of God for He is love.

God is so very good to me and has blessed me so abundantly. I choose this day to serve Him and give Him my life today, and each day I take in air to breath.
I am so thankful for my brothers and sisters in Christ. For the love and support of my home church.

this life; a pilgrimage

These last few days and weeks, the Lord has been teaching me, stretching me. (sometimes quite painfully) and opening my eyes to more understanding. Sometimes it is not pleasant to 'see me' as He sees me. He allows me to see in order to repent. To let go of.......myself.  Oh Lord, I am willing to let go of myself and serve YOU.  I THANK the Lord for revealing Himself more and more to me.

God continues to show me, this life is but a vapor. Here today, gone tomorrow.
James 4:14  "whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away".

We are commissioned "to go" to spread the Word of Life.  There are so many that do not see, do not know there is more to this life than what we see and feel.
The Lord leads us out of bondage, into His grace.. into His provision

The Lord led His people out of Egypt, into the wilderness.  He gave His people the 10 commandments, not to restrict them, but to guide them, for their good, not to harm them.

Exodus 20:1-20
And God spoke all these words, saying:
"I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
"You shall have no other gods before Me.
"You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth;
"You shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,
but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
"You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
"Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Six days you shall labor and do all your work,
but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates.
For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.
"Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you.
"You shall not murder.
"You shall not commit adultery.
"You shall not steal.
"You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
"You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's."
Now all the people witnessed the thunderings, the lightning flashes, the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood afar off.
Then they said to Moses, "You speak with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us, lest we die."
And Moses said to the people, "Do not fear; for God has come to test you, and that His fear may be before you, so that you may not sin."
The Lord led His people for forty years to teach them to trust Him, depend on Him. They were on a pilgrimage to 'the promised land'.... This life we live is also a pilgrimage .. this is not our homeland, we are travelers, on our way to be with the Lord in the promised land~ heaven.

If we seek Him, (read the Bible, it's our road map)   He provides for ALL we NEED. Not necessarily what we want.  He provided for His people for forty years, they had no need of new shoes, clothes, food, water, shelter because the Lord provided ALL they needed.

Think of it, their shoes did not wear out. There clothing did not fall apart. Food fell from the sky, enough for the day. A rock provided water. A fire gave them light, heat and protected them.  All the while, the people complained that they were better off 'before' ~ living in bondage!

John 4:35
"Do you not say, 'There are still four months and then comes the harvest'? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!

Everyday the Lord gives us new opportunities to serve and honor Him and  to share the gospel of salvation through His son, Jesus Christ.  Everyday is a NEW day~ do not allow the devil to deceive you into thinking that you can not serve Him due to 'blowing it' ~ repent, turn away from _______ (fill in the blank) and serve Him who gives life everlasting!~

May our Lord and Savior Bless you as you seek Him~
In His grace;
Kim

"for now"

for now:

On March 1, 2011 my best friend went to be with the Lord Jesus.  As I wept at 'loosing' him, the Lord reminded me in Psalm 116:15   "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints".
Greg Laurie gives a short commentary regarding this verse: " It is a promotion when God calls someone to heaven. An early death means an early crown.  It is a privilege, not a punishment. When this happens, we say of that loved one, "They are gone". And in one sense, that is true  But in another sense, it is not true at all.  I think a better way to say it would be, "They are gone for now".  To merely say they are gone implies they no longer esist.  But to say they are gone for now speaks of a reunion. And the Bible tells us that when a person dies in the Lord, they depart to be with Christ, which is far better.  It also tells us that we will be reunited with them. I know it is easier to say these things than it is to live them. But it is the truth. Heaven is far better than earth. (Phil. 1:23)

The Lord is SO GOOD. That He sent me this verse and commentary in the midst of my grieving.  I miss my friend so very much, but am so Thankful to God for his salvation.  My friend accepted the Lord just two short months prior to his passing from this earth, to be with the Lord.

After I had visited my friend at Duke (prior to his passing) I was driving home.  It was a Sunday, I had missed church, I felt emotionally drained, and poured out.  I had about half a tank of gas, but felt the urge to get off the freeway at a flying J (truck stop), I went back and forth in thought, "I've got 1/2 a tank, I dont want to stop, I can stop farther on" - 'no get gas now', so I pulled off, went to the truck stop, pulled up to the farthest pump on the left side.  I started the gas, tired I went to get the thing to wash the windows, as I bent to pick it up, I looked up and saw a sweet little girl in the back seat of the car on the back right side of the pumps. She smiled at me. (oh how nice, I smiled back)- her daddy was pumping the gas. As I walked back to the car, I thought, "they are Christian, I need to see if they will pray with me"- WHAT? (do you know that feeling?) I debated myself again. Finally I agreed, 'OK, if their still there when I finish washing my windshield I'll go ask if they can pray with me'. Well, guess what??? yep, they were still there. Now dad was on the phone at the pump. Ok, ok, here I go.......
As I approach the passenger side of the car, there is another sweet little girl behind her momma and she also smiles at me. Mom has her window up, but rolls it down.  I say, "I perceive you are Christian."  She responded, "yes I am"  I stated in a babbing way that I had been at Duke, my friend is in ICU, I missed church and have to drive back home (3 more hours). I told her, "I need someone to pray with me and burst into tears.  She grabbed hold of my hand firmly, stating she would be glad to pray with me. I knelt right there beside her car as she began a powerful prayer. I can not recall anything about it, except that she prayed, "my sister needs you" I was so blessed by this woman that loves the Lord and interceded on my behalf.  I thanked her, wiping away my tears as I walked back to my car.  I continued into the store to get my usuall water and coffee. When I came out, they were gone.
I PRAISE GOD for HIS wisdom and perfect timing.  That in a strange town, He provided me a sister in Him, that would pray with me.  I felt refreshed and had no issue traveling the rest of the way home.  As a matter of fact, I felt as though I was in His little bubble around my car.  haha~ isn't our Lord good!!!

There is more to tell of His teaching me. The stretching and growing He has been doing in my life.  And we know that NO stretching is comfortable. Yet He is there, and He knows what is best. I will continue in the next blog... stay tuned... haha :-)

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

AMEN!
