Sundays journal entry:
What is the worst possible attitude that a Christian could possess? INGRATITUDE! In Luke 17 Christ shares a parable of ten lepers being healed and only one, a ½ breed Samaritan, returned to thank Jesus. It is difficult for me to understand how anyone could not say thanks for such a tremendous miracle of healing.
Romans 1:21 “Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful”. This is a sin of the unsaved! The unsaved are ungrateful! But shouldn’t you and I be so very grateful for salvation and the opportunities God has given us. You know why Thanksgiving Day is so difficult? Christmas is coming!!! We QUIT thanking God for what we HAVE and begin thinking of what we WANT!
2 Timothy 3:1 “This know also, that in the LAST DAYS perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, UNTHANKFUL…” You and I do not need many signs that the end is near. This scripture gives a few reasons we know it is the end times and one of them is that people are ungrateful/unthankful. My goodness we live in a world of ENTITLEMENT! God has blessed us so much we just think that we deserve it and even more. Satisfaction is a thing of the past. People are becoming more wicked and less thankful.
I Thess 5:18 “In everything give thanks for that is the will of God for you”. Are you one of those folks that say “I wonder what God’s will is for me”. START HERE!! THANK HIM!!
Oh how tired I get when I am around folks who are stressed out, dissatisfied, depressed or unhappy about their circumstances. Look at Philippians 4:6 “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” Quit Worrying and Give Thanks is the message here. What about Colossians 4:2 “Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving”. Pray and Give Thanks.
Both scriptures are self-explanatory. Do not worry, pray and give thanks?
1. An unthankful person may not be saved.
2. An unthankful person can forget that God is all powerful & can change every situation.
3. Selfishness (Worldliness) An unthankful person is concerned about his will, not God’s.
4. An unthankful person is normally a critical person. This is a desire to control everything.
5. An ungrateful person s normally impatient. We want to control the time. Cannot wait.
6. An ungrateful person is normally lukewarm. Jesus is not the most important Person in their live.
7. An ungrateful person is often rebellious. Bitterness is the source of rebellion.
Mondays journal entry:
I closed yesterday with the answer to ungratefulness. That is CONTENTMENT! Do you know what causes us to not be grateful? First I believe that is when we seek over abundance. How much is enough? Rockefeller said “Just a little more”. It is apparent in the world we live in that people are more concerned about possessions than they are about being thankful.
Second, I believe that one of the greatest dangers to gratitude is the lack of contentment. Years ago in Lafayette Dottie and I cared for a very precious young girl from Weatherford Texas who was Jerry Lewis’s very first child on his first telethon for muscular dystrophy. She was wheel chair bound and could do nothing for herself. She and her parents asked if she could live with us. Dottie cared for her by bathing, dressing, cleaning and loving her. We had to move and the weather was cold & sleeting. We wrapped her up and I drove her to the new place. I made a number of trips carrying our possessions and on one trip Dottie announced that lunch was ready. I sat in front of the fireplace and murmured about the weather. This 19 year old paralyzed, dying girl looked at me and said “Brother Mike, Jesus says that if we have food and clothing we are blessed”. ( I Timothy 6:8) I was so embarrassed and less than 3 months later we buried her. Until this very day I have not heard a better, more powerful sermon.
Third, I believe that we are a selfish world and giving gratitude is difficult because we simply want more and ore and more and more and more. Mick Jagger and Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones had a #1 hit song in 1965 entitled “I Can’t Get No Satisfaction”. That is true for the world. There is no satisfaction. The world will die with empty hands and more sadly they will have empty hearts.
And lastly, I believe that we fail to express gratitude because of self-indulgence. Me! Me! Me! That is the cry of the modern world. What is in it for me? What can I gather? What will you give me? What can you do for me? Our closets are filled with clothes that we will never wear.
Porverbs 15:16 says “Blessed is LITTLE with the FEAR of the Lord than great treasure and trouble therewith.” Fear of the Lord means honoring God.
A little girl was in class when her teacher asked the children to name the Seven Wonders of the World. Answers flew towards the teacher such as Taj Majal, Great Wall of China, Panama Canal, Pyramids, etc. The teacher noticed the little girl did not participate so she asked her specifically to name the 7 wonders and the little girl answered “ To Touch, to Taste, to See, to Hear…….she hesitated, thought and then continued…..to Hope, To Laugh and to Love”.

"But who do you say that I am?"
This is the personal question Jesus asks each of us:
Mat 16:15 NKJV - He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?"Mar 8:29 NKJV - He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Peter answered and said to Him, "You are the Christ."
Luk 9:20 NKJV - He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Peter answered and said, "The Christ of God."
This is what the Lord has been asking me, and like Peter, I know He is the Lord. If in fact I believe He is the Lord, should I not desire to follow Him as the disciples did? And BE obedient to Him as my Lord? I say; YES to both of these questions.
I have been in prayer regarding personal decisions in my life. Struggles within myself and my obedience to Him. I lied to myself, made excuses as to why it was ok for me to live as I was living. Oh I do not mean living in outright sin, but 'the appearance' of it. People may 'think' I was sinning (fornicating) when in fact I wasn't. BUT; the 'appearance' remains.
Both my young grandsons have questioned me; asking 'aren't you and **** married? (we are not, but live together, in a non-physically intimate relationship) The Lord has been speaking to me about this for over a year now. (Isn't He patient!! and we want things NOW. haha)
In dealing with me about this; The Lord has revealed to me, that my choices affect other people. INCLUDING my grandchildren. I want them to be obedient to our Lord. I want them to HONOR our Lord. By living with the opposite sex, is not honoring our Lord when He requires us to keep His commandments in our heart, to obey them, to not harm others. (yes, my living with a man can harm my grandsons later in life...... by my example of OBEDIENCE to Christ, or not as the case may be.)
Again; the Lord asks, "But who do you say that I am?"
I must consider this question in earnest: If He is my Lord, then I must obey Him. I have been praying, yes and praying, and more praying. I know He answers prayer. and last night He did. I woke up with the following that I had to write down: (THANK YOU LORD JESUS FOR YOUR LOVING KINDNESS, YOUR FAITHFULNESS, THAT YOU WILL NEVER LEAVE ME NOR FORSAKE ME. amen)
First imagine: a person walking up to the Lord, and laying down a rock at His feet. (the persons burden) Then realizing, there is a boulder above them; they are carrying it around..... but only give Christ a small part. (is this trusting Him? no) Do not lay a piece of your burden down, but rather the entire BOULDER.... He says His burden is light .......... so why not take His and give Him mine??? hemmm;
This is what I wrote last night in the middle of the night:
The Word says to write His word on our hearts, to KNOW His Word.
Psa 119:11 NKJV - Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.
Pro 15:14 NKJV - The heart of him who has understanding seeks knowledge, But the mouth of fools feeds on foolishness.
In order to know His Word, I must read and study it to become approved by Him
2Ti 2:15 NKJV - Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
I must keep fellowship with other believers, join in bible studies, and gatherings at Church, I must OBEY Him, (Christ, the Word of God) & obey His commandments.
Act 2:42 NKJV - And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.
1Cr 1:9 NKJV - God [is] faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
1Jo 1:3 NKJV - that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship [is] with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.
1Jo 1:7 NKJV - But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
God sent His son so that we (me and you) can have life everlasting WITH HIM. (there is life everlasting for ALL of us, but not all will be with Him because some will NOT chose Christ as their savior from eternal suffering)
Jesus chose to be punished, took on the penalty of death (& beatings, humiliation, suffering, etc) so I would not have to be punished for my sin. He died for ME. God only asks in exchange, is that I accept Jesus as the RISEN Lord, His son.
Jesus says; if I love Him, I will keep His commandments, that I will love Him above ALL others.
Exd 20:6 NKJV - but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments
Lev 22:31 NKJV - "Therefore you shall keep My commandments, and perform them: I [am] the LORD.
Deu 4:2 NKJV - "You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.
Deu 4:40 NKJV - "You shall therefore keep His statutes and His commandments which I command you today, that it may go well with you and with your children after you, and that you may prolong [your] days in the land which the LORD your God is giving you for all time."
Deu 5:29 NKJV - 'Oh, that they had such a heart in them that they would fear Me and always keep all My commandments, that it might be well with them and with their children forever!
Deu 6:2 NKJV - "that you may fear the LORD your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, you and your son and your grandson, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged.
Deu 6:17 NKJV - "You shall diligently keep the commandments of the LORD your God, His testimonies, and His statutes which He has commanded you.
Deu 8:6 NKJV - "Therefore you shall keep the commandments of the LORD your God, to walk in His ways and to fear Him.
Deu 13:4 NKJV - "You shall walk after the LORD your God and fear Him, and keep His commandments and obey His voice; you shall serve Him and hold fast to Him.
AND; then love others as myself:
Mat 22:39 NKJV - "And [the] second [is] like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'
Gal 5:14 NKJV - For all the law is fulfilled in one word, [even] in this: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
Jam 2:8 NKJV - If you really fulfill [the] royal law according to the Scripture, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself," you do well;
Because I love myself, I love God. He has given me life everlasting with Him. The only way to KNOW His Word is to read it daily, and pray. Pray that God would give me a hunger for His Word. That God would give me a personal desire to know Him BETTER, more personally. The only way to do that is to PRAY. (talk with Him) Read His Word (listen for Him to speak to me) Keep fellowship wit other believers.This is also keeping fellowship with Him. Jesus disciples kept fellowship; 1st the walked with Jesus, they followed Jesus, they Listened to Jesus, they learned from Jesus- by watching Him. Trusting Him. I AM His disciple. my job is to continue to follow Him- ti lead others to Him.Jesus knew God, He knew His Word, He prayed, He trusted God- even to raise Him from the depths of Hell.
There is eternity- with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit- in light & in His presence- His PERFECT LOVE.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~OR~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There is eternity AWAY FROM GOD- in uttermost darkness.
God IS light. Where Gos is not- it is DARK.
Imagine you get up at night, there is no light, you can not See where you are going- You may make a turn into a wall, a piece of furniture, ha, over a cliff?? you can not see.
If you do not have God- His son Jesus, Christ- you ARE in the dark and can not see-
1Jo 1:5 NKJV - This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.
peace and grace be with you in His Holy, Holy, Holy name;
Kim
the journey
I left to drive 1600 miles to be with my daughter and grandchildren. She had said she could use my help with the kids. So, I packed up and drove. I trailered my motorcycle since I had no idea how long I would be in Colarado and didn't want to miss the summer riding months.
God was very gracious in His mercy toward me in that I had GOOD weather for the 3 days I drove. Once I arrived here, it began to snow. It has snowed every day but one since I arrived. I also discovered that my front brakes do not 'stop' my car as they should. Again, God was mericful toward me. I had new brakes put on before leaving NC. I had them checked AGAIN here in Colarado, they told me 'I was safe' to drive it.. the next morning while backing out of the driveway, the car did not stop when I applied the brakes... hemmm, I would not call that safe to drive. So, my car is again at the shop, this time for a master cylender... (so far, we'll see)
After being here only a handful of days, my daughter told me that now she and her husband would like me to leave after mothers day. WHAT? I could not believe what I was hearing, after ALL I gave up to come here to 'help' with the three grandkids at her request.
I was devastated to say the least. My heart was hurt that she would tell me to leave. Not in anger or anything, she did not say this to hurt me in anyway, but none the less, it did.
I cried out to my Lord. Questioning.
He has been revealing to me that although I do not understand why this is happening now, I will understand later. So that is comforting to me.
{Jhn 13:7 NKJV} - Jesus answered and said to him, "What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this."
and{Jer 29:11 NKJV} - For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
{Jer 29:12 NKJV} - Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.
{Jer 29:13 NKJV} - And you will seek Me and find [Me], when you search for Me with all your heart.
{Jer 29:14 NKJV} - I will be found by you, says the LORD, and I will bring you back from your captivity; I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says the LORD, and I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be carried away captive.
there are other scriptures that have spokent to me as well. I am so grateful to have such a loving Father that cares about ALL the details of my life. I praise His Holy, Holy, Holy name. amen.
I decided to fly from here and visit family and friends further west, then make decisions. I pray the Lord open doors that need to be opened, preparing the way for me to go, and that I would be strong and of good courage, walking through the doorways he chooses to open for me, doors that will bring glory to His name.
Today I was told that my very special Jasper Kitty has lung cancer. He is at home in NC in very loving hands. I am in CO. I can not get to him, and he will probably pass away before I return to NC. My heart breaks. I have cried. In all of this, the Lord comforts me as only He can. My Jasper Kitty is His kitty too. His creation that He loves. He has a purpose for allowing this to happen. I grieve as I anticipate the loss of this sweet loving cat that has been my friend and loyal companion for the past 11 years. Again, the Lord tells me; I do not understand today, but one day I will. I must trust in my Lord, He is my everything.
On a different and more pleasant note; the deposit has been paid to ORI (Orphanages Resources Int) for the missions trip in Aug. I also purchased the plane ticket for the trip. Things are coming together. I get my last shot after May 28th.
If anyone would like to sponsor me on this missions trip you can send any amount to:
Calvary Chapel of Asheville
P.O. Box 9159
Asheville, North Carolina 28815
make note on check in memo section that money is for Kim Pavlich guatemala missions trip
any funds that excede the amount needed for the missions trip will be donated to one of the orphanages for what ever their need may be: ie: beds, blankets, food, medicines, diapers, whatever.
I hope to blog while there, and post pictures as I am able. Also when I return I will give a presentation. I am very blessed and honored to be able 'to go' in His name and serve others.
Grace and peace be with you;
Kim
